Dear Music Lover,

Fall will be here in a blink of an eye and I am excited about all the music it has to offer.  I hope you’ll check out the events below, mark your calendar and remember to make your reservations in advance! I  hope to see you at one or more of these events!

Sam and I had a wonderful time playing to a full room at the Melrose Senior Center for Shake Rag Art’s Coffetalk.  What a thrill for our first long show together to end in a standing ovation. So many surprises that day, from seeing old friends, having my neighbors drive out to hear us for the first time, to reconnecting with my best friend from college.  We saw a number of new faces, had some interesting conversations, and ended the experience with a big lunch at Blue Water Bay.  A special thanks to two very amazing women, June Beverly and Doris Nabors for doing so much for the arts and music community in Melrose, Gainesville and beyond.

WHAT’S NEXT?

The High Springs Folk in the Springs Festival is coming up soon and I urge you to come out and enjoy a full day of music in downtown High Springs Florida.  Experience the lovely town of High Springs as the festival walks you through different locations for each show.

We are thrilled to be opening the show for one of my all time favorite songwriters. Adored equally by critics and fans, Pierce Pettis is a songwriter’s songwriter, a master guitarist, a powerful vocalist and a riveting performer. I have been following Pierce since the early 1980’s and his performances never fail  to inspire.

FALL SONGWRITING CLASS!

I will be teaching a songwriting course for women through the Siren’s & Strings Guitar Academy this Fall.  All that is needed is paper, a pen, an instrument of choice, and the will to write a song.  All levels are welcome and class size is limited to ten participants.  We’ll explore various aspects of the songwriting process in a supportive and nurturing environment.  The goal for the class is for everyone to write a song and perform it in a class concert at the end of the course.  If that sounds scary, relax. I will gently guide you through the creative process.  You’ll have loads of fun and emerge with something beautifulI  As a class we’ll support each other through the process of crafting each song until it shines.  The class is fun, intense, exciting, and fulfilling. If you are interested in participating in the class please contact me right away at elainemahon@mac.com.
